T-31 Philmont Treks
I have been an adult advisor on several Philmont treks with T-31 of Los Altos, California.
On each trip I keep a journal and take photos.
- Philmont 2011
In the Summer of 2011, Troop-31 sent two crews to Philmont Scout Ranch,
crew 615-P1 and 615-P2.
- Philmont 2013
In the Summer of 2013, Troop-31 sent two crews to Philmont Scout Ranch,
crew 620-S1 and 620-S1
- Philmont 2015
In the Summer of 2015, Troop-31 sent one crew to Philmont Scout Ranch,
crew 617-J on Itinerary 23.
- Philmont 2017
Troop-31 sent two crews to Philmont in 2017, so we had room for members of T-76 (4 scouts, two adults)
and T-30 (two scouts) in order to fill out two complete crews of 12 members each: 623-P-01 and 623-P-02.
- Philmont 2019
Troop-31 sent two crews to Philmont in 2019, crew 620-D-01 and 620-D-02.
- Philmont 2021
Troop-59 sent crew 626-N and I went as an adult advisor as they needed one more adult,
and the mother of one of their scouts is a good family friend.
This is a view from the Tooth of Time to Black Mountain, which is the double-peak on the left, all the way to Baldy Mountain, the largest peak in the distance to the right. Many of the Philmont treks start in the North country, climb Baldy, and then finish with a hike out to Base Camp over the Tooth of Time. The trips cover 60 to 80 miles (or more!) and last 10 nights on the trail, with two more nights at Base Camp on either end.
